Yay for Moore's

We just got back from my cousin Ilana's wedding in Toronto.  It was a lot of fun to see the whole family and it was Madeline's first trip.  In that department, we learned a lot.  It was like a practice run for our Seattle trip.  The biggest lesson I learned was to have the food ready to go and nearby at all times.  In the excitement to leave, I forgot to grab the rice cereal and the open formula.  The baby was hungry, and the food was in the trunk.  So big deal, we had to pull over.  But Bobbie (who was with us) was pissed and let me know it for the remainder of the trip.

Ok, so besides that we had another tiny setback.  My mother-in-law had bought me a new dress to wear to the wedding and that dress, along with Alex's suit and our outfits for the rehearsal dinner, couldn't fit in our car (we took Alex's car) with Bobbie's luggage.  The night before, my mom stopped by for dinner and took our hanging clothes with her.  Inadvertantly, my dad thought it was his dry cleaning and hung it in his closet.  When we realized, we shuffled some things around and my mom generously loaned me an outfit.  Alex was another story.  We went to Moore's, which is the Canadian equivilent of the Men's Wearhouse.  Can you believe that only 30 mins after we walked through the door, Alex had a suit tailored and a shirt pressed?  Amazing and super helpful!  We had a great time in the wedding in spite of the minor mix-up.  All's well that ends well, right?

Madeline had a lot of firsts this week:
1.  First trip.
2.  First trip out of the country.
3.  First time sleeping in someone else's crib.
4.  First time in the car for 6 hours!
5.  First time with a baby sitter (that she knew about).

And guess what?  She did great at all of them!  She slept through the night both nights.  She might not have loved the sitter, but she did just fine.  It made me feel really relieved for our Seattle trip.

Here are some of the words Madeline can say now:

All done, I do, I don't, go!, mama, dada, grandma, night night, yeah and good.  She says a few others, but these are the ones she can say all the time. She also repeats a ton more words.  Her voice gets really high when she actually speaks words rather than just babbling.
