One Face, Two People

When it comes to looking at my beautiful daughter, I sometimes have to do a double take. Looking at a side by side of Alex's baby picture with Madeline's, it is not hard to see why. Their appearance is so similar, it makes friends and family laugh. It is a good thing his face is so becoming on her!

I think this picture of Madeline is the photo we have that is the most obviously similar. When her eyes are open, she is Alex's mini-me. No paternity tests needed here folks, but a maternity test may be in order. There is nothing about her that looks like me, except for the fact that she is long and lean. (Just kidding!)

When I look around at friends' children, I notice almost all of the girls look like the dads. What about us moms? We are the ones who carry the baby for 9 months. We are the ones who actually go through labor and delivery. And then, as a reward, we get a baby that looks nothing like us. My advice to all you ladies out there is this: you better like your baby daddy's face because you will be looking at a smaller version for the rest of your life. The good news is, I do.

Happy New Year. May the year be a sweet one for everyone!

When I first looked at your post I honestly said out loud to Paul, "Wow! Madeline looks exactly like Alex!" I thought it was a little funny that she was in a walker that looked 30 years old, but I thought maybe one of your parents hung onto it or something. Hee hee:) I agree with you, why is it that girls look just like their daddies?! Makenna is Paul's mini-me too.
